Tonic Media's Senior Designer and Femtor Award Nominee: Linda Brown
Linda Brown graduated from UCSD with her degree in Multi-Media Arts with an emphasis in Computer Music in June 2004. At
UCSD, Linda studied computer science, electronic music, sound for film and audio/visual composition. Her interest in multi-media
arts began in 1999 when she performed/recorded her first album at the Disney Studios in Burbank, CA. Throughout her college career,
Linda worked in the media industry and gained valuable experience in sound and film. From 2001 to 2003, Linda was recording assistant
to audio engineers,
Howard Givens and
Jon Jenkins, at local ambient-electronic record label,
Spotted Peccary Studios. Here, she assisted in recording sessions
and assited in the process of making an album from writing and recording to mixing and mastering. In 2002, Linda met local film/t.v.
producer and Spotted Peccary artist,
David Helpling,
with whom she has collaborated on many corporate and film projects for the past several years. Linda has sung on projects for Sempra Energy,
Tony Robbins,
CSC
(Computer Science Corporation) and Hewlett Packard. From 2003 to 2004, Linda was audio engineer for
LJG Partners, a local media firm in downtown San Diego. Here, Linda helped create several video installations and edited audio for projects such as: The Big Builder Awards Convention in Las Vegas, Verrado Homes in Phoenix, Playa Vista Homes, Sony Pictures Entertainment.
In September 2004, Linda and her husband formed a multi-media company,
Tonic Media, that specializes in web development and internet solutions. Tonic Media works closely with local photographers and artists to design web sites,
as well as create custom music for their online portfolios.
Currently, Linda and David Helpling are collaborating on her next CD project that will be released in 2007. She recently had two songs from her upcoming
album on a new thriller called
Cold Storage that has caught the attention of Lions Gate Films. Another film project was featured last fall when Linda was invited to sing on
a Behind the Scenes trailer for
The New World (>New Line Cinemas) that was released winter 2005. The trailer played internationally at all Regal Cinemas and Ultra Star theaters and was
also aired on Entertainment Tonight.
